Mrs. Rita Menon takes over as ITPO Chief |

 Mrs. Rita Menon, a 1975 batch officer of Uttar Pradesh Cadre, has taken over as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organisation following her appointment to the post from January, 2012.
Prior to her present assignment, Mrs. Menon was Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles. She has held the important assignment of Additional Secretary and Special Secretary in the Ministry of Finance (Expenditure) before joining as Secretary, Ministry of Textiles. During her tenure, the textile industry has seen a substantial turnaround and has assumed a new dynamic profile.
In the Central Government, she has held prestigious assignment as Joint Secretary in the Defence Ministry wherein she was involved in policy planning and execution of strategic warship building and electronic and electronic warfare projects. She has been also the first woman to head several important organisations as Gaziabad Development Authority, U.P. Finance Corporation, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and was instrumental in shaping them to higher levels of growth and development.
Mrs. Menon has been a student of science, and has done graduation in Economics as well as Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. |
