UNIDO AND ITPO TO LAUNCH FIRST EVER HYDROGEN-FUELLED THREE-WHEELER FLEET AT PRAGATI MAIDA |

 The world’s first fleet of hydrogen fuelled three-wheelers will be launched at Gate No. 6 at Pragati Maidan at 11 am on 9th January 2012. The event is being organised by United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has extremely high relevance to the ongoing Auto Expo 2012 at Pragati Maidan – particularly in view of the concerns about carbon footprint and damage to environment coming from the auto industry.
The fleet has been developed by a consortium of academic and industrial partners namely Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, Mahindra & Mahindra and Air Products of USA under a project co-financed by UNIDO’s International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies (UNIDO-ICHET).
ITPO is hosting refuelling facilities at Pragati Maidan and the fleet of fifteen three wheelers would used by ITPO within Pragati Maidan to demonstrate hydrogen energy based technology. Hydrogen is a carbon free fuel and as such the technology has excellent promise for the Indian transport sector. |
